Bulwell St Mary’s Primary School on Ragdale Road, one of Transform Trust’s Religious Partnership Schools, welcomed an important visitor this month to support their Religious Education curriculum and Collective Worship.
During his visit Reverend Bob blessed Bulwell St Mary’s, its pupils, staff and wider community. Blessings in Christianity are known as sacramentals which is a special prayer, action or object which, through the prayers of the Church, prepares a person to receive grace and to better cooperate with them. So, by receiving a blessing Bulwell St Mary’s are prepared for the year ahead through this special prayer bestowed upon them.
Reverend Bob visits the school regularly throughout the academic year to lead Collective Worship. His presence at the start of the new school year is always welcomed as it brings a warm and inclusive positivity, and an insight into spirituality for children that are new to the school.
He completed a Collective Worship with the pupils and staff together in the school hall where he explained the importance of blessings within Christianity and why he delivers them. He then visited every class, the school office and the kitchens to bless everyone.
Sharon O Connor, Headteacher of Bulwell St Mary’s Primary School added:
“We are so grateful for Reverend Bob. He gives so much of his time and care to our school and blesses us with his presence throughout the academic year. Our vision is to create an inspiring community where everyone recognises their self-worth as a unique child of God so being blessed in this way helps us to realise this vision and inspire our community. We’re really looking forward to what we will achieve as a whole and individually this year and are so grateful for all of our special visitors that bring joy to our school.”
