South Wilford’s PTA, with help from the school community, transformed the school allotments into a workable and enjoyable space for the children. The team are so grateful for everyone who came along, despite the fresh February weather, to help move equipment and design a brand new space for the children to explore and learn.
Stone slabs were laid around the shed and the allotment area now has multiple raised beds for the children to enjoy watching a variety of plants, fruits and vegetables grow throughout the year.
This dramatic before and after photo demonstrates what great teamwork can achieve! Colourful flower pots lined the paths and dedicated spaces for fruits and vegetables are clearly marked and ready for every class to use. The PTA and school community have worked incredibly hard throughout February and March to transform the space.
Despite the spring showers, they launched their allotment 31st March with everyone cheering as their headteacher Natalie Aldridge cut the ribbon. The flowers thrived and the entire school explored their new space and each class were busy planning outdoor projects in the spring and summer. After the spring holidays, they are having a sunflower growing competition to see who can grow the tallest sunflower!
